A baby deer has been saved from the water of a canal lock in Rotherham, after falling in last week.

Crews from Aston Park Fire Station were called to Holmes Lock after the fawn got itself into a predicament.

It was swiftly pulled out and assessed, with fire crews confirming it wasn't hurt before releasing the youngster back into the wild.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is urging people not to attempt to rescue animals in the water themselves - and to instead dial 999.
