The family of a man who was killed in Sheffield in 2022 are renewing their appeal for information around his death.

Carlo Giannini, an Italian-born pizza chef , was just 34 when he was stabbed in the city. His body was found in Manor Fields Park.

Officers launched a murder investigation, but no suspects have yet been brought to trial.

Carlo’s family have today shared the following statement:

"Four years have passed, yet we continue to hope that someone may have seen or noticed something that could help us bring justice for our Carlo.

“There is not a single day in our lives when we do not feel the absence of the son, the brother, the uncle, and the brother-in-law he was before that hand took him away from us forever.

“There are questions that will wait for answers forever. Let us not allow his death to go unpunished.”

During the murder investigation, officers recovered four knives in a search of the scene, but unfortunately these weapons could not be linked to Carlo’s death or identify those who killed him.

Officers made seven arrests in connection with Carlo’s death. Those arrested were released with no further action taken.

Carlo’s mother shared a tribute to her son:

“May is the month of spring, of colours, of life being reborn. For us, for the past four years, there has been no more spring. Since that night of 12 May, life has changed.

“I think about the person who killed my Carlo – whether they are able to go on living, and whether anyone who may have seen something or knows something feels no remorse.

“So many question, so many ‘whys’ remain unanswered. All this to give dignity to a young man who loved life.

“I thank those who still remember our tragedy and my Carlo.”

Detective Chief Inspector Becky Hodgman, who is the lead investigator for this case, said:

“We will thoroughly investigate any information we receive about Carlo’s death. Our greatest aim is to achieve justice for Carlo’s family.

“It has been four years, but we know that one crucial piece of information could be enough to identify those responsible for Carlo’s death. If you have information, it is not too late to come forward. Justice delayed is better than justice denied.”
