We're told businesses across South Yorkshire have 'high hopes' for the future of Doncaster Sheffield Airport - after an operator was confirmed to the public earlier this week.

On Tuesday - Doncaster Council announced that Munich Airport International will oversee the running of DSA - should it re-open as planned next year.

Dan Fell is the Chief Exec of Doncaster's Chamber of Commerce - He believes it's an ambitious choice:

"They have a great track record in Europe, and we hope they can bring existing airline carriers and operators with them into the UK and into Doncaster.

"The local authority have delivered here by bringing in a credible operator with significant expertise, experience, and with a proven record in European markets.

"So, we're delighted to welcome them to South Yorkshire - we know they will make a great success in running the region's international airport.

"The appetite has been significantly wetted by the announcement of this new operator, and the local business community expects this project to be a success.

"Everybody now just wants to see this airport back up and running."

DSA closed back in 2022 after its former operators - the Peel Group - said it was no longer financially viable.
