Doncaster man given indefinite hospital order for trying to kill his support worker
A man from Doncaster has been given an indefinite hospital order for trying to kill his support worker in a stabbing at his home.
Hussein Juma, attacked his support worker when he was seventeen, stabbing him three times before hiding the knife under a paving slab.
The victim managed to escape and has since made a full recovery. Juma was found guilty of attempted murder after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
South Yorkshire Police said: "A Doncaster man has been sentenced for the attempted murder of his support worker after officers uncovered the weapon he used, hidden beneath a paving slab.
"Hussein Juma was 17 years old when he tried to kill his support worker by stabbing him three times with a kitchen knife in a vicious and unprovoked attack in his home.
"The victim managed to escape by climbing out of a window and ran to a neighbour to ask for help. Officers and the ambulance service attended within minutes of being called, and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Thankfully he has since made a full recovery.
"Juma attempted to hide the knife under a paving slab at the scene. This was quickly recovered by officers and CSI and forensics teams were able to confirm that this was the weapon used in the stabbing. It was also discovered that the tyres on the victim’s car had been slashed.
"Juma, 20, of Low Road, Conisbrough, was arrested within less than half an hour of the attack taking place.
"Despite the evidence against him, Juma pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. However, he was found guilty following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court on 11 June 2026.
"He was sentenced on Friday 7 August at Doncaster Crown Court where he received an indefinite hospital order.
"The order has no end date meaning he can only be released with approval from the secretary of state for justice or a mental health tribunal."
