A joint crackdown on shoplifting is under way in Barnsley town centre.
Police and council wardens are carrying out regular patrols, talking to shop workers, business owners and people visiting the area.
Barnsley town centre neighbourhood policing team Sergeant David Carnell explains more:
"These patrols are threefold- they are there to provide reassurance to our shop workers and residents, encourage shop owners to submit details about what has been stolen, and prevent offending.
"Our officers work closely with council wardens with the joint aim to show a visible presence in our town.
"We want Barnsley to be a welcoming place for all, and for those who choose to live, work and visit feel safe when doing so."
