Barnsley Football Club has announced that manager Conor Hourihane will depart at the end of the 2025/26 season following mutual discussions.

The decision for Hourihane to part ways comes as both parties concluded that a change would benefit preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.

Barnsley CEO Jon Flatman expressed gratitude for Hourihane's contributions, stating, "We would like to thank Conor for his hard work and commitment during his time in charge."

Flatman further elaborated that the transition to a new head coach will be managed smoothly throughout the remainder of the current season.

Hourihane, who began his management career with Barnsley, shared his heartfelt appreciation for the club and its supporters.

"I want to say a massive thank you to the Barnsley supporters. I will always hold Barnsley in my heart and wish the Club nothing but the very best for the future," said Hourihane.

He emphasised the focus on finishing the season on a strong note with the final five games ahead.

Hourihane's last match in charge of Barnsley will be the Sky Bet League One game against Stockport County at Oakwell on 2nd May 2026.
