Three men who fled police in a stolen car following a suspected burglary in Chesterfield have been jailed for a combined 22 years.

It's after officers attempted to pull over a stolen VW Golf R travelling on cloned plates in Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, on September 26 2023.

It had been taken from a home in Buxton the previous month.

The car failed to stop and was driven at high speed and on the wrong side of the road in an attempt to evade police.

It was also driven directly at a police car.

The vehicle eventually left the road and ended up in a field, with three men running away on foot.

33 year old Daniel Lloyd, of Brinnington in Stockport, was arrested later the same evening as he walked towards Chesterfield.

He will serve 11 years for two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and aggravated vehicle taking.

The DNA of two other men was found on water bottles and balaclavas inside the vehicle.

24 year old Layton Doran, of Hunters Close in Stockport will serve six years and five months for attempted burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

32 year old Marcus Lawrence, of no fixed address, will serve four years 10 months for the same offences.

Detective Sergeant Ryan McVeigh, of Derbyshire Police, said:

“We welcome these sentencings which see the court holding Lloyd, Doran, and Lawrence accountable for the chaos and fear that ensued as a product of their crimes.

“Burglary has far-reaching effects for victims, and we will continue to target offenders and deal with them as robustly as our powers allow.”
