Police are trying to trace a group of 'good Samaritans' who helped a PSCO rescue a man who'd fallen into a canal in Rotherham.

This happened at around 2pm on January 10 in the Forge Island area, with the off duty officer hearing shouting and coming across the group hanging onto the man.

He'd fallen from a bike straight into the freezing canal.

Help eventually arrived and the man was pulled out safely. He is now recovering at home.

Officers are trying to get in touch with those who helped. Anyone with information is being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
