Elderly woman suffers life threatening injuries in Barnsley crash

The 85 year old was struck by a car as she crossed a street yesterday

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was seriously injured following a crash in Barnsley.

It happened on Lower Thames Street at around 2:30pm yesterday (January 30).

A black Ford KA hit the woman, who was walking in the direction of West Way.

She remains in a series condition in hospital.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their investigation.

Anyone with information, or with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident, is being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
