National Eisteddfod to return to Cardiff in 2028
Leaders express excitement ahead of the cultural event's comeback to the capital
The National Eisteddfod will return to Cardiff in 2028, marking its first appearance in the city after ten years.
This festival is celebrated for honouring Welsh language, arts, and culture and is expected to draw visitors from all over Wales and beyond.
The Leader of Cardiff Council, Cllr Chris Weaver, has welcomed the return of the festival.
He said "The National Eisteddfod is the largest and most important celebration of Welsh language and culture in our national calendar and I’m incredibly pleased that, for the first time in a decade, it is returning to our capital city in 2028."
Cardiff Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Events, Cllr Jennifer Burke, added: “Hosting the National Eisteddfod is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Cardiff's cultural life in all its creative glory, as well as the city’s commitment to supporting the Welsh language.
“The festival brings people together through music, literature, arts and performance, and we’re excited to play our part in making sure there’s a warm welcome for every single performer, competitor and visitor in 2028.”
Further details about Cardiff’s plans to support and host the National Eisteddfod in 2028 are expected to be announced at a later date.
