Wales experienced their 15th consecutive defeat in the Six Nations with a 27-17 loss to Ireland in Dublin.

Despite losing, Wales displayed commendable spirit during the match at the Aviva Stadium, staying competitive throughout.

Trailing 12-10 at half-time, Wales showed resilience with a fine solo try from prop Rhys Carre, countering scores from Ireland's Jacob Stockdale and Jack Crowley.

Welsh flanker James Botham sought to turn the tide in the second half, but Irish players Jack Conan and Jamie Osborne secured a victory that sets up a Triple Crown matchup against Scotland.

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell praised Wales for their performance: "I actually thought Wales did fantastically well to stay in the game.

"They played tough, they hung on in there and kept it close on the scoreboard. I thought they were tremendous tonight."

Farrell noted Wales' solid defense, thwarting Ireland's usual front-foot rugby, and commented on their impressive contact skills and set-piece tactics.

Although Ireland remains a contender for the Six Nations title, with France in the lead, Wales aims to avoid the wooden spoon as they prepare to host Italy next weekend.

Wales head coach Steve Tandy lauded his team's tenacious effort, especially their physicality and skill during the game.

"(I've) massive pride in the boys and the shift they put in," said Tandy. "Disappointed we didn't get something from the game for the group because I felt we deserved something by the fight they showed, a lot of great skill out there as well."

Tandy acknowledged the team's growth despite starting the tournament with losses against England and France and a narrow loss to Scotland.

"This group, they're unbelievable to work with, they're always learning, they're growing," Tandy added.

With hopes to transform their performances into a win, Wales awaits their match against Italy on 14th March.
