Two men who carried out three arson attacks in Pontypridd and Caerphilly in a single day have been jailed.

18-year-old Yasin Hussain, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison.

19-year-old Adam Taylor-Morris, also of no fixed abode, received the same sentence.

The pair were sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court following a South Wales Police investigation.

Both men had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

Police said Hussain and Taylor-Morris were driven down from Scotland on the day of the attacks by Taylor-Morris's sister, Danni Taylor.

The 24-year-old, from Perth and Kinross, pleaded guilty to participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group.

She will be sentenced at a later date.

The three attacks

The first attack happened at around 4am on Monday 1st June 2026 on Porcher Avenue in Glyncoch.

A family inside the house was woken when a brick smashed through a living room window.

A Molotov cocktail was then aimed at the broken window, but the bottle did not go through and smashed on the ground outside.

Hussain and Taylor-Morris fled the scene and took a taxi to the Caerphilly area.

The second attack happened at around 7am the same day, at an address on Wallis Drive in Caerphilly.

A brick was thrown through a window, followed by a glass bottle full of petrol, which ignited on impact.

The fire was quickly put out.

The pair then took a taxi to the third attack, which happened at around 9am at an address on Pearson Crescent in Glyncoch.

Police said Hussain and Taylor-Morris can be seen loitering for several minutes before approaching the address.

With Taylor-Morris filming on his phone, Hussain put a Molotov cocktail through the open living room window, setting the room alight.

Detective Constable Connor Michael said: "These were deliberate and dangerous arson attacks which could've had devastating consequences, including serious injury or loss of life.

"The sentences handed down reflect the severity of the offenders' actions, and we hope they serve as a warning that such reckless behaviour will not be tolerated. We would also like to thank Police Scotland and Gwent Police for their assistance throughout the investigation."
