A 39-year-old man from Trecynon has been sentenced to one year and six months in prison for assaulting three 11-year-old children in Aberdare Park.

Luke Jancouski was jailed at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and one count of assault by beating.

The court heard that in early January, Jancouski approached the children while they were playing in the park and attacked them. One child was poked in the eye and hit on the head, another lost a tooth after being punched, and the third child was punched in the nose.

South Wales Police were able to identify Jancouski using CCTV footage from the scene that showed a tattoo on his hand.

PC Jade Barrett from South Wales Police shared their determination to protect the community.

"No child should ever be subjected to violence, especially in a place where they're meant to have fun and enjoy themselves. We are committed to keeping our community safe from these kinds of offenders and Jancouski is now rightfully behind bars for his abhorrent actions."
