Man arrested following incident in Merthyr Tydfil

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds which are serious but not believed to be life threatening

Detectives have arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, following an incident which happened in Aberfan Road yesterday afternoon (16 August).

A 40-year-old man was admitted to Prince Charles Hospital with stab wounds which are serious but are not believed to be life threatening.

Aberfan road was closed for a short period of time but has since reopened.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Allen, said: ā€œThis incident has caused considerable concern in the local community.

ā€œI can confirm that we made an arrest shortly after the incident and the suspect, who is known to the victim, is in police custody.

ā€œAberfan road is the main route through Aberfan and I would like to ask people who travelled through the village between 3.30pm and 4pm to check dashcams for relevant footage.ā€
