Four people have been convicted in connection with the murder of Joanne Penney, who died in Rhondda Cynon Taf in March last year.

Police were summoned to Llys Illtyd, Talbot Green, at 6.10pm on Sunday, 9th March 2025, where Penney was discovered with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Despite emergency services' efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The latest convictions were delivered today at Cardiff Crown Court.

Molly Cooper (33) from Leicester was convicted of acquiring ammunition for a firearm and had previously admitted to engaging in organised crime activities.

Renaldo Baptiste (39) from London was found guilty of murder and had also admitted pre-trial to partake in organised crime.

Donna James (51) from Llanishen and Laura John (23) from Rhiwbina were both convicted of assisting an offender.

Callum Kelleher (37) from St. Helens pleaded guilty before the trial to involvement in organised criminal activities.

Their convictions follow a January trial where Kistina Ginova (23) from Leicestershire, Melissa Quailey-Dashper (40) from Leicester, Jordan Mills-Smith (33) from Cardiff, and Joshua Gordon (27) from Leicestershire were all found guilty of Penney's murder.

Marcus Huntley (21) from St Mellons, Cardiff, had already confessed to murder and participating in criminal activities for an organised group.

All 11 convicted individuals are awaiting sentencing.

In March 2026, Tony Porter (69) from Leicestershire was found not guilty of murder but guilty of involvement in criminal activities, resulting in a 22-month prison sentence.

Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees commented: “Today’s convictions reflect the diligence and hard work of the investigation and prosecution teams over the two trials. Sentencing will be at a later date and will bring justice to those responsible for this crime. My thoughts remain with Joanne’s family at this very difficult time.”
