Police are appealing for a potential witness to come forward after the death of a man found in a river in Southampton.

The body of the man in his 30s was found on Monday 27th April, in the river near the public footpath by Coxford Road.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is currently being prepared for the coroner.

Investigators want to speak to a woman who may have spoken to the man shortly before he went into the water.

Other witnesses described her as a white woman aged between 50 and 60, with grey and brown hair falling just below her shoulders.

She is thought to be approximately 165cm-170cm tall, of slim build, and was carrying multiple bags, including plastic and a leather bag.

Anyone who recognises this description is urged to come forward by calling 101 and quoting reference 44260197397.
