Southampton drug dealer jailed for over four years after Class A drug investigation
Police seized more than £11,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin
A Southampton man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after admitting a series of drug-related offences uncovered during a lengthy police investigation.
Lourenciano Capaingano, 33, was sentenced to four years and five months at Southampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, possessing criminal property and assaulting an emergency worker.
The court heard that between October 2024 and March 2026, Capaingano was arrested several times in Southampton as officers investigated his involvement in the possession and supply of significant quantities of crack cocaine and heroin.
Over the course of the investigation, police recovered more than £11,000 worth of Class A drugs, along with cash, several mobile phones, cannabis and other items believed to be connected to drug dealing.
Prosecutors also told the court that Capaingano repeatedly tried to avoid arrest by giving officers false information and running away. On one occasion, he escaped while handcuffed, but police quickly recaptured him. During a number of these incidents, he became violent and assaulted officers.
The investigation concluded with a warrant being executed at an address in Tennyson Road, Southampton, where officers seized a further £9,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, together with drug-related equipment.
Capaingano, of Tennyson Road, admitted possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, possession of criminal property, and assaulting an emergency worker. He was sentenced on Tuesday, 17 July, at Southampton Crown Court.
Detective Ben Manning, who led the investigation, said: “This sentence is the result of a lengthy investigation involving CID, local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and the Priority Crime Team, all of whom were instrumental in building the case against a man who repeatedly chose to profit from the supply of Class A drugs.
“Crack cocaine and heroin cause immense harm within our communities. The drugs trade is often linked to exploitation, addiction, violence and wider criminality, with those involved seeking to profit from vulnerable people, leaving lasting damage to individuals, families and communities.
“I welcome this sentence, which means, Capaingano, a prolific drug dealer is now behind bars, and a substantial quantity of dangerous drugs has been removed from our streets.
“We remain committed to identifying, disrupting and prosecuting those involved in the supply of illegal drugs.”
