Six arrests made after man stabbed in Portsmouth

A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stabbing injury to his leg and has been described to be in a serious, but stable, condition

Police investigating a serious assault in Portsmouth have made six arrests in connection to a serious assault yesterday.

Officers were called at 2:28pm on Thursday 12th March by the ambulance service, with a report a male had been seriously assaulted on Hawthorn Crescent in Cosham.

A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stabbing injury to his leg and has been described to be in a serious, but stable, condition.

Arrests have been made of the following:

  • An 18-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
  • An 18-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed blade in a public place.
  • An 18-year-old from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed blade in a public place.
  • A 19-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
  • A 29-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness.
  • A 21-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness.

All those arrested remain in police custody at this time.

Officers are seeking witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
