Girl aged 14 seriously sexually assaulted in Southampton
Police are investigating the incident at Swaythling on Sunday afternoon
A 14-year-old girl is receiving specialist support after reporting a serious sexual assault at Swaythling in Southampton.
The incident occurred between 2pm and 3.10pm yesterday (Sunday 23rd August) in woodland close to the Wide Lane roundabout.
The suspect is described as a tall, skinny man in his 30s or 40s, with pale/sandy skin, blonde greasy hair styled in curtains, and a dirty-blonde inch-long beard.
He was wearing a dark short-sleeved top, blue skinny jeans, and beige or white plimsolls, and has a tattoo on one arm resembling scribbles or writing.
Detective Superintendent Ross Toms emphasised the distressing nature of the incident for the girl involved, "Our specialist officers are supporting her while we have significant resources in the area thoroughly investigating this incident as a priority.
“Police will be in the Swaythling area following up on all available lines of enquiry, speaking to local people and reviewing CCTV.
“If you saw or heard anything in this area between the times stated, no matter how small your information could be crucial so please contact police.
“We have been provided with a very detailed description of the man. If you know someone who matches this description, you have seen this man in the area, or have perhaps captured him on CCTV, Dash Cam or doorbell camera then please contact police immediately.”
