A Portsmouth entrepreneur's celebrating the city's 100th year by creating a board game inspired by its history.

Rachel Lowe MBE's the creator of the Destination Board Games - and is bringing in a new design to celebrate her home city.

She's telling us the game, inspired by her previous work as a cab driver, will visit all parts of the city.

She said: "Portsmouth is where the Destination story began, so creating a centenary edition of the game to celebrate 100 years of Portsmouth’s city status feels like a full-circle moment.”

The game will feature 100 iconic destinations, historical landmarks, independent businesses and cultural locations spanning a full century of Portsmouth’s history from 1926 to 2026.

She added: “I want to see as many Portsmouth businesses and landmarks represented in this game as possible, and I’d encourage anyone who loves this city to get involved."

She told us how she's found the research part of the game.

She said: "It's been very interesting and I've learned an awful lot about my city that I didn't know.

"The stories people are telling us are very interesting, and we're celebrating a lot of places that simply don't exist anymore.

"Portsmouth is where my story started.

"I was a cab driver here many, many years ago, and that's how I had the idea for the game because you play as a taxi driver travelling around collecting fares.

"Destination Portsmouth was the first game that I created, so to be able to do a 100th anniversary edition for the city?

"I'm very proud to be able to do that."

Some of the historical destinations featured will include Chapman’s Laundry, the McMurdo Factory, Hilsea Gas Works, The Odeon Cinema, Victoria Swimming Baths, The Tricorn Centre and U-Need-Us, while Portsmouth’s nightlife will be celebrated through destinations including Mecca Locarno, The Birdcage, 5th Avenue, The Cambridge and more from across the city.
