Police appeal for witnesses of fatal collision near Sutton Scotney

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A34 southbound near Sutton Scotney.

The collision at around 8:20pm on Saturday 5th September involved a green Austin A35 and a black Mazda 6 Sport.

The driver of the Austin, a 63-year-old man from Romsey, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

A 21-year-old man from Tidworth, Wiltshire, who was driving the Mazda, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving without due care/consideration whilst unfit through drugs.

He has been bailed until 6th December as investigations continue.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or captured anything on dash cam - including footage of the Austin or Mazda driving on the A34 prior to the collision - to contact 101 quoting 44260434195 or via their website.
