Man arrested for attempted murder after Park Gate assault

The victim was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment for serious injuries

Police have made an arrest after a 20-year-old man was seriously assaulted on Hunts Pond Road in Park Gate.

Emergency services were alerted at 6:00pm on Saturday 15 November.

The man was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment for serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital at this time and his condition has been described as stable.

A 21-year-old man from Fareham has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in police custody at this time.

District Commander Chief Inspector Marcus Kennedy said, “We understand that this incident will have caused significant concern in the community and we want to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident, and that there is no wider threat to the public.

“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances and Hunts Pond Road remains closed whilst our officers are in the area carrying out enquiries.

"If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer.”
