Firefighters battle large woodland blaze in North Baddesley
Fire crews extinguish fire that spread across extensive woodland area
A large woodland fire broke near Botley Road in North Baddesley yesterday evening (Sunday 23rd August) , has prompted a significant emergency response.
Fire engines, water carriers, and off-road vehicles were dispatched to the scene to combat the blaze at around 4.30pm
As the fire generated a substantial amount of smoke, people were advised to steer clear of the area while emergency services worked to contain the flames.
The fire affected approximately 1,000 x 500 metres of woodland.
Firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control, eventually extinguishing it and proceeding to dampen down the area.
Most vehicles returned to their stations overnight, while relief firefighters supervised the scene, addressing any residual hotspots.
Fire crews departed at around 9 am this morning.
A crew is scheduled to return later today for a reinspection of the site to ensure its safety.
