Man charged with rape and stalking offences in Portsmouth
Police received reports of alleged incidents last month and earlier this week
A 33-year-old man has been charged with multiple serious offences in Portsmouth following a police investigation.
Sadiq Farhad Azad, an Iraqi national of no fixed address, is facing charges related to the alleged rape of a child and the stalking of a woman in her 20s.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police were first contacted on Thursday 6th August 2026, when it was reported that a 14-year-old had been raped in an alleyway off London Road, Portsmouth.
Officers say the alleged victim had spoken to the suspect on a bus prior to the attack but did not know him
A separate report was made on Tuesday 1st September 2026 by a woman in her 20s, who revealed that she had been stalked by a man over the course of a year.
In addition to claims of stalking, the woman reported her family member's car had also been damaged.
After investigations into both cases, Sadiq Farhad Azad was arrested and charged with rape, stalking, and criminal damage.
The 33-year-old has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday 7th September 2026.
