Man charged over alleged rape in Bournemouth public toilets
An 18-year-old man has been charged following an alleged rape in Bournemouth earlier this month
A man has been charged in connection to a serious sexual assault in Bournemouth.
Police were called at 1.57am on Sunday 6 July 2025 to a report that a 20-year-old woman had been raped in a public toilet on Undercliff Drive.
Following early enquiries, a 31-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested but later released without charge and faces no further action.
After further investigation, officers arrested Mohammed Abdullah, 18, from West Drayton in Middlesex. He has now been charged with rape and sexual assault.
Abdullah is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 July.
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said:
“After extensive enquiries, charges were authorised following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service. I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward to assist the investigation.
“The victim continues to be supported and has been updated with the developments.
“This matter is now subject to active court proceedings and it is important that the legal process is allowed to take its course. We urge people to avoid speculation or comment online.”
