Isle of Wight's first digital pool-based exercise programme launches
Residents on the island will be able to access personalised programmes
Isle of Wight residents living with joint pain, mobility issues and rehabilitation needs will soon be able to access personalised water-based exercise programmes at two 1Leisure centres.
The personalised exercise and rehabilitation programme named "Good Boost" is set to be delivered through waterproof tablets from September 1st.
The programme will create an exercise programme focused on the individual's health, symptoms and functional ability, adapting over time to recognise participants' progress and needs.
Councillor Julie Jones-Evans, chair of the Economy, Regeneration, Transport, and Infrastructure committee, said: “We are delighted to introduce Good Boost to our 1Leisure facilities and offer residents another way to improve their health and wellbeing.
“This innovative programme provides personalised support for people living with joint pain, mobility challenges or those recovering from injury, helping them exercise safely and confidently in a welcoming environment.
“Good Boost will help more residents stay active, independent and connected to their community.
"We are so fortunate on the island to still have a council run leisure service to enable these public health initiatives, enabling residents to keep active and invest in their wellbeing."
It will be available at 1Leisure Medina and 1Leisure Heights for Gold One Card members and exercise on referral clients.
Participants can either self-refer or be referred by their GP or healthcare professional.
The programme's also suitable for non-swimmers, with sessions taking place in waist to chest-height water.
No previous exercise experience is required.
