Hampshire mother's holding football event to 'keep son's memory alive'
The event will feature a football match, live music and stalls to raise money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
A football and live music event's being held today to 'keep the memory alive' of a man who died in a motorbike accident in Hampshire.
Kieran Short worked in the ambulance control room, helping people, before he was involved in an accident which took his life at age 20.
Karen Harley's Kieran Short's mother and is hosting the event, raising money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
She said: "It means more than words can say because things go back to normal life very quickly, which I understand, it's difficult.
"I'm stuck in this hold of grief and despair and loss and other people kind of quickly get back to normal life.
"But when you do something like this, everybody just rallies around and it touches me just how much people do, the time they give up.
"It just makes me realise that he was a very special person and was loved by so many.
"I just want to give to the air ambulance for what they tried to do on the night.
"I feel like they're always going to have a special place in my heart, in the family, it means a lot to us."
The event is being held at Sholing FC ground with gates opening at 3:30pm.
A football match will take place, former professional football players will be in attendance, live bands will perform and there'll be stalls held.
