Firefighters are warning of the dangers of leaving mirrors in direct sunlight, after a house fire in Bedhampton.

They were called to Hillmead Gardens just after 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 14 May)

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue sent crews from Havant, Cosham, Southsea and Emsworth, along with command support vehicles and the aerial ladder platform.

Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters entered the property to extinguish the fire using hose reels and jets.

No one was injured, but the fire had been unreported for some time and the home has been 100% damaged by the blaze.

The fire service says it was most likely to be caused by a concave make up mirror placed too close to glass in the sun.

They've re-issued advice on keeping safe at home, which you can read here.
