Around 15 hectares of gorse and heathland destroyed by fire at Bagshot Moor

Around 15 hectares of gorse and heathland have been destroyed by a fire on Bagshot Moor.

Smoke from the blaze at East Boldre could be seen for miles.

Emergency crews from across Hampshire attended the incident that was reported yesterday evening around 5pm.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service stated:

"We were alerted to the blaze at 5pm, after the HIWFRS Control Room received multiple emergency calls."

They confirmed that those attended to help were from "Crews from Eastleigh, New Milton, Ringwood, Burley, Hythe, Beaulieu, Hardley, Lymington and Dorset & Wiltshire FRS"
