A 44-year-old woman has received a 20-week custodial sentence after pleading guilty to shoplifting offences at Telford Magistrates Court.

Rebecca Hitchin, with no fixed abode, admitted to theft from stores, predominantly targeting Tesco.

The court heard the details of her repeated thefts, which resulted in significant disruption and loss for the affected store.

Inspector Rich Jones commented on the impact, saying, "Shoplifting has a real impact on local businesses and the wider community, and Hitchin’s offending left a store facing ongoing disruption and loss."

Inspector Jones expressed hope that the sentence provides reassurance to businesses and residents, reinforcing police commitment to addressing persistent shop theft.
