Wolves have completed the re-signing of legendary striker Raul Jimenez, bringing one of the most iconic players in the club’s modern history back to Molineux.

Jimenez remains Wolves’ record Premier League goal scorer following his first spell in gold and black between 2018 and 2023, scoring 57 goals in 166 appearances.

Signed initially on loan from Benfica following promotion into the Premier League, Jimenez quickly became the focal point of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

His goals fired Wolves to a seventh-place Premier League finish in his debut season in England, before an even more remarkable campaign followed in 2019/20.

But Jimenez’s influence on the club extended far beyond goals - the club said his resilience following the serious head injury he suffered against Arsenal in 2020 and the determination he showed to battle back to his best, only strengthened the admiration fans held for him.

Now, after three productive seasons in the capital with Fulham, Jimenez returns to the club where he became a Premier League star.

Jimenez will also be reunited with his number nine shirt after the club’s current nine, Adam Armstrong, was happy to vacate the number upon hearing of Jimenez’s return.

On returning to Wolves, he said: "It feels really amazing. It’s exciting to be back there, where I lived my best years as a footballer.

"I want to keep pushing like that, as it was my first time, so I can bring the team back to where it deserves to be.

“First of all, I want to get Wolves back to the Premier League, and then score as many goals as I can. I also want to be a leader in the dressing room, be a really important part of the team, and not only on the pitch, but outside of the pitch as well, and be an example of how to work inside and outside the pitch.

“I’m really glad to be back and to be back part of the pack again. Once a wolf, always a wolf.”

The 35-year-old is currently back in Mexico preparing to lead his country out at a home World Cup which kicks off on Thursday but put pen to paper on a two-year deal with his former club earlier this week.
