CCTV images have been released after a wheelie bin was dropped from a bridge in Telford damaging a vehicle and sending two people to hospital.

This incident happened on the Wombridge footbridge over the A442 at around 1.50 am on Monday (27th Jan).

A similar incident happened today (31st Jan).

The incident, believed to be linked, happened at around 1 am from the same bridge striking a HGV.

The driver of the HGV was unhurt.

West Mercia Police believe the people in the CCTV images were in the area at the time and may be able to help with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Drury said: “This sort of behaviour is reckless, and not only can it cause serious damage to vehicles, but even more worryingly, it can result in serious injury to those travelling in the vehicle and potentially cause a devastating collision.

"Fortunately, on these two occasions no one sustained any serious or life-threatening injuries.

“We believe these two incidents are linked and are appealing to the public for their help in identifying the two people in the CCTV images, as we believe they have vital information that can help with our enquiries," he said.

Anyone who recognises the people in the images is asked to get in touch with West Mercia Police.
