Mineral water company, Wenlock Spring Shropshire, are launching a new campaign that aims to discourage people from drink-and-drug driving.

'The Only One for the Road' campaign is an annual initiative launched by the West-Midlands based water brand, promoting safer roads and responsible drinking as we head towards the festive period.

The campaign is being backed by West Mercia Police who are calling for hospitality businesses to have more alcohol-free drink options available so that people won't be tempted to drink and drive.

Over the past three years, police have seen a stark increase in fatalities due to drug and drink- driving related incidents.

West Mercia Police's Roads Inspector, Darren Godsall said:

"Over the last three years across the three counties of West Mercia, we have dealt with 13 fatalities and 132 serious injuries where alcohol has been a contributing factor.

"We've also dealt with 24 fatalities and 100 serious injury collisions due to drug consumption."

Wenlock Spring has created free campaign packs containing tent cards, posters and beer mats that venues across the region can use throughout December.

Road safety groups are also backing the campaign including: RoSPA and Road Safety GB and major breweries including Frederic Robinsons, Arkell’s and Titanic Brewery.
