Two men accused of stealing from shops across Wolverhampton are set to appear in court today following arrests made during two separate police operations.

Carl McKeown was detained at a property in Bushbury on Tuesday morning by neighbourhood officers investigating a series of shop thefts across the city.

The 40-year-old has since been charged with eight counts of theft from a shop.

In a separate incident, officers from the local priorities team arrested a man at the Royal London pub in Wolverhampton city centre yesterday afternoon as part of an investigation into a theft at a Bushbury store.

Leon Bailey, 43, has been charged with theft from a shop and failing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

Both men are due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court today.

Police say tackling retail and neighbourhood crime remains a key focus and are urging anyone with information or concerns to contact them on 101.
