Two people have been arrested and a substantial sum of money seized as part of an investigation into suspected brothel-related activity in Dudley.
Officers from Dudley’s Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) executed a warrant at a property on High Street, Wordsley, on Tuesday, 27 October, following intelligence suggesting the premises was being used as a brothel.
The early morning operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to tackle organised crime and protect potentially vulnerable individuals.
Following the raid, officers arrested two people at separate addresses in Birmingham. Those detained were a 41-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both suspected of offences connected to controlling a brothel and exploitation.
Both individuals have since been released on bail, subject to strict conditions.
Police confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing and that the premises is no longer operating, with those involved having been evicted from the property.
Sergeant Natalie Taylor, from Dudley’s SOCEX team, said: “We will always endeavour to take action against these types of premises and protect and safeguard vulnerable people who are involved.
“We’ll keep working to help make our communities safer places to live, work, and visit and we’re grateful to those who share information with us that helps us take action to protect the people of Dudley.”
The warrant was conducted under Operation Machinize, a National Crime Agency (NCA)-coordinated initiative targeting money laundering and the criminal exploitation of cash-based businesses operating on high streets.
