Stourbridge police crackdown on antisocial driving sees over 40 motorists face penalties
Traffic operation targets dangerous driving and ASB on Stourbridge Ring Road and Birmingham Street
Stourbridge officers are intensifying efforts to crack down on antisocial behaviour and driving offences, with more than 40 motorists set to receive letters in the post.
Last week, on 14th October, officers from the Stourbridge Neighbourhood Policing team collaborated with the Road Harm Prevention Team to address concerns from residents regarding dangerous driving in the area.
Targeting Stourbridge Ring Road and Birmingham Street, the teams focused on drivers involved in antisocial behaviour and breaking any of the Fatal Four offences, including speeding, drink or drug driving, failing to wear a seatbelt, and using a mobile phone while driving.
During the operation, 11 drivers were dealt with at the roadside for offences such as illegal window tints, speeding, and driving without insurance.
Additionally, a further 45 motorists will receive letters, with some issued warnings and others notice of intended prosecution for speeding.
Stourbridge Sergeant Lauren Stopher-Murray stated, "We know residents in the area have concerns around ASB taking place on the roads in Stourbridge and drivers speeding and driving dangerously putting innocent motorists and pedestrians at risk. We listen to every single report we receive and are working alongside our partners to tackle this issue."
She added, "This operation is not a one-off, we have further enforcement planned which will take place at all times of the day and night and my teams will continue to carry out regular patrols at these areas to ensure everyone is abiding by the laws of the road."
Residents concerned about antisocial behaviour in their area are encouraged to make a report online, call 999 in an emergency, or attend one of the police surgeries advertised on the Stourbridge Police website and WMNow.
