Shropshire's out-of-hours doctor service will be provided by a different company for the first time in 30 years.

In a statement, Shropdoc - a non-profit social enterprise - confirmed that it would no longer be providing the service after being outbid during the tender process by Medvivo.

Shropdoc had been working in the community providing out-of-hours GP service to those who need it since 1995.

While the company accepted the results of the process, it added that it was not happy with the decision.

CEO Daniel Robinson explained: “For three decades, Shropdoc has been a cornerstone of urgent primary care in our community, driven by our values, local expertise, and an unwavering commitment to high-quality patient care.

"Our recent bid to retain these services was built upon this legacy, our local knowledge and expertise, and the proven dedication to our patients and the wider community."

“This decision, while disappointing for this specific service, is not the end of Shropdoc,” concluded Mr Robinson.

“We are committed to building on our strong foundation, exploring new opportunities to serve our community, and continuing to thrive."
