Shropshire’s main hospital trust is out of special measures for the first time since 2018, after making major improvements across the board.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has delivered progress in areas like waiting times, cancer diagnosis, and maternity care, according to NHS England.

The Trust, which runs the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, is now ranked among the most improved in the country and has plans for further changes by 2028.

Lynn Cawley, Chief Officer Healthwatch Shropshire, said: “This is great news for the people of Shropshire. The improvements made by The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust as they come out of special measures reflect the hard work and dedication of the staff across our main hospitals."
