Three teenagers have been arrested and a dispersal order is in place after disorder in Shrewsbury yesterday (27 May).

Officers were called out near to The Quarry in Shrewsbury town centre at around 7.18pm following reports of a 'large disorder'.

Three teenagers, including two 16-year-old boys and one 17-year-old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Two are in custody while one of the 16-year-olds is on bail.

A Section 34 Dispersal Order will be in place in Shrewsbury town centre until 7.45pm tomorrow (29 May).

This gives the police extra powers to remove people over 10 causing anti-social behaviour.

Chief Inspector Matt Painter called the disorder "completely unacceptable" and says work to identify others that may have been involved in ongoing.

He said: "To support this work and to prevent any further incidents, a dispersal order is now in place across Shrewsbury town centre. This gives us additional powers to move people on where necessary and deal swiftly with anyone causing antisocial behaviour.

"Our officers will remain in the area throughout the day to provide reassurance and ensure the town remains a safe place for everyone.”
