Sandwell woman encourages small lifestyle changes for better well-being
NHS research shows nearly 19 million adults could feel happier through simple changes
Nearly 19 million middle-aged adults in the UK could significantly enhance their mood by making just one healthy lifestyle change, according to new research.
The findings come as the NHS launches a nationwide campaign encouraging people to take control of their wellbeing.
Central to the campaign is the NHS Healthy Choices Quiz, a quick, five-minute online tool that provides a personalised score out of 10 and offers tailored advice on sleep, stress management, exercise, diet. The quiz is designed to help users identify small but meaningful changes that can improve both mental and physical health.
41-year-old, Kristina Kelly from Sandwell says that she used the app to help her prioritise her own well-being.
With her husband’s health and her children’s needs often taking priority, Kristina noticed she had been putting her own wellbeing on the back burner.
She wanted to get fitter and feel healthier but no longer had the time to go to the gym as she once did.
Determined to make a change, she started finding small pockets of time for herself, whether it was walking the dog or joining a yoga class.
"It's made a huge difference in how I feel, my energy and my mental health. It quietens the noise in my head of every day stress."
The research highlights the strong connection between everyday lifestyle habits and mood, revealing a major opportunity for millions to sleep better, reduce stress, and feel happier with simple, achievable tweaks.
