Four men have admitted their involvement in a shooting in Sandwell that left a 19-year-old with leg injuries.

The shooting occurred at approximately 1.30am on Bearwood Road, Smethwick, when gunshots were fired from a Seat Leon.

The teenager's injuries were not life-threatening, and the shooter drove away in the vehicle.

West Midlands Police's Major Crime Unit conducted extensive CCTV and phone enquiries, revealing a disorder between two groups on Shireland Road prior to the shooting.

Haytham Almosuli, Jahmali Kirk, Darell Ayuketah, and Akobi Folarin were identified as being in the vehicle at the time the gun was fired five times.

Almosuli, 21, fled to Amsterdam following the shooting but was arrested upon returning to the UK.

All four admitted charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and causing grievous bodily harm when they appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Detective Constable Koshyar Shorish highlighted the seriousness of gun-related crimes and noted the intent to cause harm, potentially fatally.

Shorish stated, “Through CCTV and phone enquiries we were able to pinpoint these four being in the car from which the gunman exited and fired. The gun was fired five times so there was intent to cause harm and potentially kill.”

The men have been remanded ahead of sentencing next month, with each facing significant time behind bars.
