Tens of thousands of people are expected at the RAF Cosford Air Show today (8 June).

The annual event at the Shropshire Air Museum and airfield is once again a sell-out, with around 50,000 visitors expected to enjoy the spectacle.

This year’s theme is ‘Commemorate, Celebrate, Innovate’, celebrating the work of the Royal Air Force, NATO Allies and Partner nations.

‘The Red Arrows’ will be among the aircraft taking to the skies to wow the crowds, along with the Great War Display Team and The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

As well as air displays, visitors will be able to get a closer look at some of the aircraft taking part in static displays.

For younger enthusiasts, there will also be a showcase on armed forces and defence innovation in the STEM Hangar.

Anyone driving to the show is advised to allow extra time for journeys.

National Highways said special traffic measures are in place to help ease congestion "including opening the hard shoulder of the westbound M54 between junctions 2 and 3."
