Pedestrian dies after collision involving multiple cars in Telford

Emergency services were called to Holyhead Road on Thursday afternoon

A man in his 70s has died following a road traffic collision in the Ketley area of Telford, yesterday afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene on Holyhead Road at 2.52pm on 27th November and deployed an ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

“On arrival crews discovered a number of cars that had suffered damage and one patient, a man, who was a pedestrian. He was found to be in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

“Sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

West Mercia Police are now appealing for information.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Yesterday afternoon (Thursday 27 November) around 3pm a black Audi A1 collided with a pedestrian in the Farm Foods car park on Holyhead Road in Telford.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was declared deceased a short time later.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who has dashcam footage from around the time it happened.

"Please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on [email protected], quoting incident number 00260_i of 27 November."
