Nine fire crews attend fuel tanker fire in Shropshire

Nine fire crews have been dealing with a fuel tanker fire in Shropshire.

Emergency services were called out to The Rock Road in Newdale at midday today (14th April).

People in the area were previously warned to keep their windows and doors closed.

At the time of writing, there's still the advice to avoid the area.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to The Rock Road, Newdale area at approximately 12.07pm following reports of a fire. Nine fire appliances attended the incident involving a fuel tanker.

"The fire is now under control. However, we do still have some crews in attendance while we continue to deal with the incident.

"We are asking members of the public to continue to avoid the area. Nearby residents were previously advised to close windows and doors due to a smoke plume however this is no longer necessary."
