A van driver had to be rescued by two fire crews after driving into flood water in Melverly.

Emergency services were called yesterday (11th December) at 1.49pm to reports a driver had driven into a flooded road.

Two fire crews from Baschurch and Oswestry attended.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue service had previously put out a warning about the Melverly area in a post on Facebook.

They urged people to check before travelling, and said not to drive into flood water.

In another post they warned that water can be deeper than it looks and that even two feet of water can float a car.
