Man jailed for disqualified driving in Shropshire

A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after being caught driving while disqualified in Shropshire.
Ben Upton, from High Street in Highley, Bridgnorth, was seen driving a Vauxhall Zafira in Much Wenlock on 11th August by roads policing officers.
The officers requested him to stop after Broseley & Much Wenlock's Safer Neighbourhood Team gathered intelligence suggesting Upton was regularly driving despite being disqualified.
Upton initially complied before fleeing on foot, but he was soon apprehended and arrested.
The following day, Upton pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.
He received an 18-week prison sentence and an additional 60-month driving disqualification.
PC Emma Strangwood of SNT emphasised the seriousness of the offence and the importance of holding violators accountable.
She highlighted the role of local policing teams and officers in swiftly bringing Upton before the courts.
According to Strangwood, their teams will continue targeting illegal drivers to enhance community safety.
