A drug dealer has been jailed after police recovered a firearm in Wolverhampton.

They discovered the pistol and ammunition after stopping Dalton Bowen in Boswell Road, Bilston.

He tried to make off from officers but he was quickly detained on 25 October last year.

During searches of Bowen and an associated address we recovered the gun and wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

The 21-year-old, of no fixed address, was convicted of possessing a prohibited weapon, ammunition and Class A drugs with intent to supply following a trial.

He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Thursday.

The investigation was led by our Major Crime Team and is part of our ongoing activity to take weapons off the streets and put those involved in crime behind bars.
