Lloyds Bank has permanently closed its branches in Ludlow and Bridgnorth today (Tuesday, May 20).

The closures are part of a wider plan announced in 2023, affecting dozens of branches across the country due to a decline in in-person banking.

Lloyds cited changing customer habits, with more people now using online and mobile banking services. Both Ludlow and Bridgnorth branches had seen significant drops in footfall in recent years.

Customers can still access some banking services through the Post Office, mobile branches, or online and telephone banking.

Community groups and local representatives had voiced concerns over the impact of the closures, particularly on elderly and vulnerable residents.
