Police have made four arrests following an investigation into the tragic death of a three-month-old girl in Great Wyrley.
The incident was reported at 8:45am on Saturday, 5th September, when West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to a call about a child in cardiac arrest.
Sadly, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The arrests in connection with this investigation include a 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman from south Staffordshire, a 20-year-old woman from Wolverhampton, and an 18-year-old man from Walsall.
All have since been released on bail with conditions.
Detective Inspector Josh Lee from the child protection team assured the local community that the investigation is being conducted with urgency and thoroughness.
He confirmed the arrests were initially on suspicion of murder, but the investigation remains open-minded to all circumstances as evidence is gathered.
The situation is being treated as an isolated incident, and speculation is cautioned against.
