Four men jailed for more than 65 years after fatal stabbing on Walsall street
Mohammed Khan died after being attacked in broad daylight last year
Four men have been sentenced to a total of over 65 years in prison following the stabbing and killing of 22-year-old Mohammed Khan on Bloxwich Road, Walsall, last year.
Mohammed Khan was attacked on 17th March in a brutal and sustained assault, later dying from catastrophic injuries at the hospital.
The sentencing took place yesterday at Wolverhampton Crown Court, where Asad Iftikhar, aged 34, was jailed for 22 years for murder.
His twin brother Hassan Iftikhar, also aged 34, received an 18-year sentence.
Their younger brother Zain Raja, aged 23, was sentenced to 18 years for murder.
Cousin Amaan Khan, aged 22, received an eight-year sentence for manslaughter.
The attack occurred in broad daylight around 5.15pm, leaving shocked onlookers.
Mohammed Khan was proceeded against by the brothers and cousin after arriving armed with two large knives, attempting an attack on Zain Raja.
Footage documented the attack, providing crucial evidence in the investigation that led to the convictions.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, who led the investigation said: “We are happy with the sentences these four men will receive. They will spend more than 65 years behind bars for their brutal and senseless actions on that fateful day. Although nothing can be done to bring Mohammed back, we just hope the sentences handed out give some comfort to his family as they continue to build their lives without him.
“We need people to understand that violence such as displayed by these four individuals is something we simply won’t tolerate on the streets of Walsall and the wider West Midlands and the case just highlights the devastating impact of knife crime and the dangers of carrying knives.”
